Course Overview:

Returning for 2009 is SARTA's popular seminar on pitching for venture capital. Local expert Scott Lenet brings a lively and real life approach to the complex world of raising venture capital funding. This session is geared towards any entrepreneur who wants to learn more about raising funding from VC's or angel investing. Scott will walk you through the steps of idea generation to the coveted 'term sheet'. New for this year will be an interactive panel of local entrepreneurs who have been through the steps of raising capital from a VC. Scott will also discuss the changes in the economic environment and how they are affecting your chances of raising capital.

Scott Lenet (Managing Partner, DFJ Direct)
Instructor Bios: 

Scott Lenet is a founder and Managing Director of DFJ Frontier, a Draper Fisher Jurvetson affiliate and early stage technology venture capital fund focused on investmentson the west coast . At Frontier, he leads fund management, fundraising and portfolio management efforts. Mr. Lenet began his venture capital career in 1992 with Geocapital Partners, where his successful investments included Netcom and Logic Works. He also has significant entrepreneurial experience in the technology industry as the founder and CEO of SmartFrog.com, acquired by Cybergold in 1999. Mr. Lenet's enterprise software experience also includes a product marketing role at Trilogy Software. In addition to his board roles as a Director for DFJ Frontier portfolio companies, Mr. Lenet serves on the boards of the Sacramento Philharmonic, the Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance, and the Entrepreneurship Center at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management, where he is an adjunct professor. He received his MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an AB in Comparative Literature from Princeton University.
