About Us

The Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance (SARTA) is a tech-focused 501(c)(3) corporation established in 2001 to support entrepreneurial programs, companies and technology investment throughout Butte, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Solano, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba counties.

The organization is based on the public-private partnership founded by three regional groups:

  • Golden Capital Network  - a networking, training and consulting organization whose activities include facilitating a premier venture capital conference series, investor networking, entrepreneur coaching and mentoring.
  • Sacramento Metro Chamber - works on behalf of business, advocating for economic prosperity in order to keep the region vital for commerce and families.
  • UC Davis INNOVATIONACCESS - focuses resources of the University of California and the business community on the development of new business ventures in the Capital Region.

SARTA's vision is to develop the Sacramento region into a nationally recognized center of technology and technological innovation, as evidenced by a significant number of technology companies growing, developing and prospering in the region.

Who We Serve

Through its partners, SARTA connects and provides resources for the region’s business, non-profit, economic development and community leaders. The SARTA "family" includes:

  • Technology and life science entrepreneurs, companies and their management teams
  • Investors and finance organizations, including venture capital firms, angel investors and groups, banks and grant-making institutions
  • Economic Development Offices of our region's cities and counties
  • Professional service providers and corporations

What We Do

SARTA supports development-stage technology companies by offering both startup resources and the following categories of programs and services:

  • Knowledge/Mentorship: Entrepreneurial training, education, and high level hands-on mentoring to address management, recruitment, technical, financial and business challenges
  • Funding: Identify sources and provide access to capital for the growth or expansion of technology-based businesses with innovative products
  • Network: Connect with regional business leaders and affiliate with key groups including service providers, investors and complementary businesses. Use the SARTA Network to locate appropriate facilities or incubator space, affordable professional service providers, and opportunities for R&D partnerships

SARTA Programs - How We Get It Done

In addition to our many Partners-provided professional services, SARTA's initiatives to provide access to capital, education and business development include the following five programs:

  • SARTA Technology Index™ measures the health of the regional technology economy by tracking the leading 50 tech and life science companies driving its growth.
  • CleanStart is an intiative designed to accelerate the development of clean energy technology ventures within the Greater Sacramento Region.
  • GreatStart Mentoring supports technology entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises through advice, mentorships and education.
  • Leadership Series SARTA's monthly seminar series designed to help local tech companies grow through high return training activities.
  • McClellan Technology Incubator (MTI) our 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization established as part of an economic stimulus plan to assist emerging businesses in the technology sector with an emphasis on job creation for the region.
  • Sacramento Venture Communities is our hub and spokes entrepreneur and investor network with the Golden Capital Network that cultivates innovation and sustainable growth companies for region wide economic prosperity.

SARTA is directed by a board of 40+ regional leaders of academic institutions, investment groups, business associations and technology corporations that seek to foster technology innovation and growth in the nine county greater Sacramento region.
